How to Change the App Icon in Android Studio | NP-X Coding

Android studio provides a default app launcher icon when the app first time is installed, but when it's time to release your app or publish on the Play store, you have to change the default icon of your app.

In this article, you will get complete information to change the app icon in android studio.

Step 1 - Prepare your app icon

The first step is to design the app icon. If you had already prepared an icon then you can skip this step. So open your icon creator software or tool and design your app logo. 

I recommend you to use Adobe XD software.

In the Adobe XD, create a new 2 artboard with 512 heights and widths. In the first artboard, design the foreground of your app icon, and in the second artboard, design the background for your app icon.

And then Export them to a specific location on your computer.

Example -

[Export both foreground and background  to your computer location]

Step 2 - Change the App Icon in Android Studio

Open Android Studio and go to the -

File > New > Image Asset

After clicking on the Image Asset, you will see Dialog like this -

Now 

1. Select Foreground Layer and select your logo Foreground path
2. then select the Background Layer and select your logo Background path
3. then click next

You can also Resize Foreground Layer as shown above.

After clicking the next button, you will see a dialog like this -

So just click on the Finish button.

Now it's done.

Output

As you can see, the app logo is successfully changed. So In this way, we can Change the App Icon in Android Studio.

If your app is still showing an old icon then, reinstall your app on the device.
